Vicky White, 56, was wanted for allegedly allowing or enabling Casey White’s escape from the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, some 70 miles west of Huntsville. The break-in happened on the day she was supposed to leave the department. Vicky White is not related to Casey White.
Since last week, authorities have been looking for Vicky and Casey White. Singleton said the couple left the jail Friday morning for a supposedly planned mental health evaluation in court, but detectives later determined that no such evaluation had been scheduled.
Vicky White told a booking officer she was headed to a medical appointment after dropping off her son, Casey White, who was charged with capital murder in the stabbing death of Connie Ridgeway. He confessed to the crime and was being held in jail awaiting trial when he vanished.
Vicky White did not have a planned medical appointment, according to the sheriff. Singleton also claimed she drove the detainee alone, despite department policy requiring two sworn deputies to accompany an inmate facing similar charges.
Vicky White, a previous county jail employee of the year, was set to retire at the end of her shift, according to coworkers.
How Vicky White Helped Casey White Escape

According to investigations, neither assertion turned out to be true.
Vicky White was seen leaving the Lauderdale County Detention Center on Friday morning, with Casey White trailing her in leg shackles and handcuffs, according to newly released security video.

According to a chronology provided by detectives, the couple walks out of the jailhouse at 9:41 a.m., with her allegedly telling the booking officer that she is the only deputy available with a handgun certification.

Sheriff Singleton said Monday that the patrol car exited the detention center and drove directly to the parking lot. “They wouldn’t have had enough time to even try to get to the courts.”
Vicky White was not reached by phone for several hours, and deputies stated that the calls went straight to voice mail. They also discovered Casey White had never returned to his cell or to the courts.
On this day, the jailer and murder suspect were last seen driving a copper Ford Edge.
