Fujiko Fujio was the pen name of a manga writing team comprised of two Japanese manga creators. Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko are their true names. They began their partnership in 1951 and utilized the Fujiko Fujio name until the partnership was disbanded in 1987.
They started out working together on the story and artwork, but as their styles diverged, they began releasing individual works under different names, Abiko as Fujiko Fujio A (A, Fujiko Fujio, credited as Fujiko A. Fujio outside Japan) and Fujimoto as Fujiko F. Fujio (F, Fujiko Efu Fujio) and Fujimoto as Fujiko F. Fujio (F, Fujiko Efu Fujio).
They received numerous solo and collaborative honors throughout their careers, and are best known for developing the famous and long-running series Doraemon, whose main character is officially acknowledged as a modern Japanese cultural icon.
The works of famed manga creator Osamu Tezuka, as well as several US cartoons and comic books, especially Hanna- Barbera’s, have influenced most of their endeavors.
