Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall began her career at Pharmaca & Elli Lilly & Co, where she worked from 1998 to 2002 as a Product Team Leader. She joined Bristol Myers Squibb in 2003 as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and remained there until May 2008. From June 2008 until May 2009, she worked in Medicines Development at Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
She joined Pfizer in 2009 and rose through the ranks to become Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. From 2009 to January 2019, she served as Chief Medical Officer.
She was vice chairwoman of the Department of Psychiatry at Howard University College of Medicine before working in industry, where she directed research initiatives for the National Institutes of Health.
