He was the oldest of four children born on November 7, 1918, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Career

Graham began his career as a pastor and evangelist after graduating from college, traveling across the country to hold revival meetings and share the gospel. He quickly established a reputation as a dynamic and powerful speaker, and his messages were frequently broadcast on radio and television. Graham’s ministry peaked in the 1950s and 1960s, when he held large-scale evangelistic crusades all over the world, attracting tens of thousands of people at each event. He also appeared on popular TV shows and was featured in magazines and newspapers.

Family

Billy Graham was married for over 60 years to Ruth Graham, a fellow evangelist and author, until her death in 2007. Virginia, Anne, Ruth, Billy Jr., and Nelson were their five children. Graham’s children also became involved in ministry and evangelism, with several of them serving as pastors and leaders in the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Graham was also a grandfather and great-grandfather, and his family remained a big part of his life even as he traveled around the world spreading the gospel.
