Salvador Ramos Uvalde Shooting; What Happened
According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Salvador Ramos was a student at Uvalde High School in the small city 130 kilometers (80 miles) west of San Antonio.
Mr Abbott said at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon that he allegedly shot his grandmother before driving to Robb Elementary just before midday on Tuesday.
Ramos is thought to have left his car outside the school and entered the grounds armed with a handgun and possibly a rifle.
Officers on the scene allegedly shot Romas to death. Two people were hurt but not seriously.
A bus and ambulance were used to transport 13 students and an adult to the school, according to Uvalde Memorial Hospital. On arrival, two of the students were pronounced dead.
There was no further information about Ramos’ grandmother’s condition immediately available.
Ramos was photographed posing with what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon on an Instagram account linked to him by news outlets.
Mr Abbott said in a statement that Texans were mourning the victims of this “senseless crime” as well as the community of Uvalde.
The 14 students and one teacher killed are the most victims of an elementary school shooting since the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, which killed 20 students and six teachers.

President Joe Biden was briefed on the school shooting and will speak about it later this evening, according to his press secretary.
“His prayers are with the families impacted by this awful event, and he will speak this evening when he arrives back at the White House,” she tweeted.
