Vicky White and Casey White Manhunt
Vicky White, the deputy director of corrections for the Lauderdale County jail, allegedly assisted Casey White, who was awaiting trial in a capital murder case, in escaping on April 29. Vicky White had told coworkers she was transporting the inmate from the jail to the courts for a mental health evaluation, but the two, who are not related, instead fled the area.
The car they fled in was later discovered abandoned in Tennessee, but the pair had vanished. That is, until U.S. Marshals received a tip on Sunday that surveillance photos from an Evansville car wash showed a man who looked suspiciously like Casey White exiting a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to the Marshals Service. White is roughly 260 pounds and measures 6 feet 9 inches tall.
According to Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding in Indiana, the pair was spotted near the sheriff’s office on Monday. He said the duo escaped in a vehicle as officers arrived, leading police on a chase. “To try to terminate the pursuit,” he stated, US Marshals crashed with them. Vicky White then shot herself, suffering “extremely significant” injuries, he claimed. Casey White was injured in the crash, although not seriously.
Wedding said,
“We’re lucky that no law enforcement was injured, no innocent civilians were injured, the pursuit was short in nature and we have both people in custody,”
