Ifedayo Adetifa began his professional studies as a medical student at the University of Ilorin where he studied Medicine and Surgery from 1989 till 1997.
In 2005, he got the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians in Paediatrics after completing his training in paediatrics and child health at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
He received his MSc in Epidemiology from the University of London in 2009 after studying at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In 2012, he received his PhD in Tuberculosis Epidemiology from the University of Amsterdam. Ifedayo Adetifa Career
Dr Ifedayo Adetifa began his career as a Research Clinician/Pediatrician from 2004. As a Clinician-scientist, Dr Adetifa was responsible for the design and conduct of several immunoepidemiology studies including a clinical trial aimed at elucidating the correlates of disease and protection in TB and identifying surrogates of treatment efficacy.
In addition, clinical care for primary, mono-resistant and MDR-TB, TB/HIV co-infection. Also e-learning, mentorship and technical support for TB control programmes.
From 2011 till 2014, he was a Clinical Epidemiologist, Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia. In Gambia, he was the Principal investigator for a US$ 4 million TB Epidemiology projects portfolio.
From 2014, he was an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Dr Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa also served overseas as a Clinical Epidemiologist at the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme, Kiliufi, Kenya.
In 2021, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Dr Ifedayo Adetifa as the new Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
