Valentine was the son of Tim Valentine, a former Democratic U.S. Representative from North Carolina who served for six terms. Valentine attended Northern Nash High School in Nashville, North Carolina, where he grew up. He went into radio after graduating from East Carolina University (ECU).
Valentine began filming An Inconsistent Truth, a documentary that is a counterpoint to Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth, in August 2009. His film had its world debut on January 26, 2012, and it was released on January 27, 2012. Truth was the top-grossing movie per screen in the country for the first two weeks after its debut. It was only showing at one theater at the time, and it made a total of $36,439 in those two weeks.
