Usman Alkali Baba is the New Inspector General of the Nigerian Police whose appointment was approved by the President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently in London. Usman Alkali is expected to take over from the former IGP Adamu who was in Owerri following the attack on the prison where more than a 1000 inmates escaped. Former Inspector General (IGP) Adamu was sacked while he was on duty in Owerri, Imo state.

Usman Alkali Baba Biography
Usman Baba Alkali was born on the 1st of March, 1963 in Geidam Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State, North East Nigeria. Usman Baba Alkali’s state of origin is Yobe state.
Usman Alkali Baba Education
Usman Alkali trained at the Teachers College, Potiskum, Yobe County, where they awarded him a Teacher’s Grade II Certificate in 1980.
Usman Alkali, psc (+), fdc graduated from the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) with a Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and a BA (ED) in Political Science from Bayero University in Kano. He is a graduate of Course 22/2014, a fellow of the National Defence College, and a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs. DIG Alkali has participated in a number of technical courses and seminars. He’s filled a number of key roles in the past.
Usman Alkali Baba Career in the Nigerian Police
He joined the Nigeria Police Force on March 15, 1988, and rose through the ranks to become an assistant superintendent of police before being elevated to commissioner of police on January 27, 2013.
He was named commissioner of police in Delta State in 2014. He was the force secretary and DIG Force CID at the Nigerian army’s headquarters in Abuja. He worked in the FCT (Abuja) as a deputy commissioner for inquiries and as a directing staff member in the staff college.
He has also worked in Kaduna as a deputy commissioner for administration and an assistant commissioner for the Criminal Investigation Department. He was an area commander in Ilorin.
